JP Smith reached ATP World No. 210 for the first time in singles earlier this year. He became the first Tennessee Volunteer to win a Challenger-level singles title when he won the Winnetka Challenger Championship in July.

He has also jumped up the doubles rankings to start 2012, moving up to a high of No. 103 due to winning five Challenger and two Futures tournaments. He has won doubles tournaments with three partners and earned ATP points with six different partners.
